Michael is a Principal of Term Street. In addition to arranging traditional and complex financings, Michael is heading Term Street’s auction finance platform.
Michael has spent his career as a real estate finance expert holding leadership roles in mortgage banking, lending, and principal investment organizations. Involving over $1.5 billion of transactional experience, Michael has developed a keen ability to identify risks and use creative structuring to effectively manage risk.
Most recently, Michael ran acquisitions and finance for Group Fox, one of the largest multifamily investment groups in Chicago. He developed growth strategies for the company and oversaw financial matters. During his time, Michael led the acquisition of $380 million of apartment properties and structured over $500 million of financing. Moreover, he achieved millions of dollars of realized savings for the company through contract negotiations and restructurings.
Prior to Group Fox, Michael was an owner and operator of a commercial real estate bridge lending platform with Barnett Capital. Michael’s responsibilities included sourcing complex transactions and managing the portfolio to create outsized returns with minimal risk. In addition to originating new bridge loans, Michael purchased discounted notes and restructured distressed debt. Average annualized returns were in excess of 30%.
Michael began his career in commercial mortgage banking with Cohen Financial. Working on behalf of high net worth individuals, middle market investment firms, and institutions, he was instrumental in the placement of over $1 billion in real estate debt and equity. Transactions represent most property types nationally and have included construction, bridge, and permanent financing with a broad spectrum of capital sources.
Michael graduated with a bachelor of business administration from the University of Wisconsin at Madison with majors in accounting, real estate, and risk management.
